Dating to 1525, this magnificent ceramic basin is a unique work that brings the exquisite details of Ottoman tile art to the present day. The original, 40 cm in diameter and standing on a pedestal , was bequeathed to the British Museum by Edith Goodman in 1983.
The surface of the basin is adorned with compositions in the style of Babanakkaş , one of the master craftsmen of the Ottoman palace atelier, and traditional Rumi motifs . Each motif reflects the aesthetics and meticulous craftsmanship of the period.
This work, reproduced faithfully to the original, was hand-made using the wheel-drawn method and was prepared in the same size, 42 cm in diameter .
This special form, where history and art meet, not only has a collection value but also adds character to the environment with its decorative power.
