Inspired by an elegant ewer from the 16th century Iznik, frequently encountered at the end of the classical period and currently exhibited in the British Museum, we reinterpreted it in the Çini Project workshop.
At Çini Project, inspired by this historic piece, we reinterpreted the pear-shaped structure as a wheel-drawn vase. The herringbone pattern surrounding the body, combined with elegant Rumi ornaments, brought the aesthetic language of the past to the present.
The contrasting yet balanced harmony of green and red, captured in the classic Iznik palette, makes the work both powerful and refined. This vase is not merely a decorative object; it offers a contemporary reflection of the spirit of a period, a form, and a tradition of design.
Herringbone Patterned Vase
It was transferred onto a 35 cm high wheel-drawn form using traditional tile methods.
It is completely handmade.
