The Story of Kütahya Tile Patterns
Kütahya tile art began in the 15th century with predominantly blue-and-white designs under the influence of the Early Ottoman Empire. In the 17th century, it became the second largest tile center, supporting İznik. Floral motifs, medallion designs, geometric forms, and stylized weaving patterns are among the most distinctive features of this art. Colors such as blue, turquoise, manganese purple, green, yellow, red, and black add a unique vibrancy to Kütahya tiles.
