KAFTAN

Topkapı Sarayı Müzesi koleksiyonunda yer alan ve Sultan I. Ahmed’in türbesinden günümüze ulaşan tarihî kaftandan ilham alınarak hazırlanan bu eser, Osmanlı saray dokuma sanatının görkemini çini yüzeyine taşımaktadır.

Kırmızı atlas zemin üzerine altın ipliklerle işlenen büyük oval madalyonlar ve çiçek açmış kiraz ağacı motifleri, Osmanlı saray estetiğinin doğa ile kurduğu zarif ilişkinin en seçkin örnekleri arasında yer alır. Simetrik düzen anlayışı, desen ritmi ve ince işçilik; dönemin nakkaşhane kültürünün ulaştığı yüksek sanatsal seviyeyi gözler önüne sermektedir.

Çini sanatçısı Gül Camadan tarafından özel kaftan formu üzerine yeniden yorumlanan eser, geleneksel Osmanlı tekstil sanatını çini sanatının zamansız diliyle buluşturmaktadır. Orijinal eserin kırmızı zemin etkisi korunurken, altın dokular siyah detaylarla yeniden yorumlanmış; geçmişin ihtişamı çağdaş bir estetik anlayışla yeniden hayat bulmuştur.

Bu eser, yalnızca bir obje değil; Osmanlı saray sanatının zarafetini günümüze taşıyan kültürel bir hafıza niteliğindedir.

Ceramic Kaftan Inspired by Sultan Ahmed’s Robe

Inspired by a historic caftan preserved in the Topkapı Palace Museum collection and originating from the tomb of Sultan Ahmed I, this work reflects the magnificence of Ottoman court textile art through the timeless language of Turkish ceramics.

Large oval medallions embroidered with golden threads on a deep red satin ground, together with blossoming cherry tree motifs, represent some of the finest examples of the elegant relationship Ottoman palace aesthetics established with nature. The symmetrical composition, rhythmic ornamentation and refined craftsmanship reveal the remarkable artistic sophistication achieved within the imperial ateliers of the period.

Reinterpreted by ceramic artist Gül Camadan on a specially designed ceramic caftan form, the piece brings together the grandeur of Ottoman textile tradition and the enduring beauty of ceramic art. While preserving the dramatic red background of the original garment, the golden textures have been reimagined through black detailing, allowing the splendor of the past to emerge through a contemporary artistic perspective.
